Tuesday, October 31, 2017 - The last bottle was more youthful, more reticent, yet more complex. This bottle holds nothing back - its nose leaps from the glass. Very prototypically Left Bank; pencil lead, cedar, raspberry, red currant, smoke. Beautiful poise, but one can't help but wonder if it's drying out a bit. The fruit density here isn't what it was, putting it in such very stark contrast with the still-reserved 1982 and 1986. Of course, this may have not been representative. Are other bottles more lively?. Regardless, so very St Julien. Not as spicy/floral as I recall from the last time around. If most bottles are like this, drink them now.
