Saturday, December 2, 2017 - Black pepper. Rose. Well balanced and I like the rose, but short finish with too much heat compared to some others tasted at a similar price point.

10/16/2018 8:41:00 AM - Thanks for your comment. That, along with Jancis Robinson's publication giving it "only" a 17.5 and suggesting early drinking, puts me on the fence, doubting I'll go long on this. Really interesting given the hype of the 2016 vintage (which seems like it is more than hype). However, your note for this wine references "some others tasted at a similar price point". When I find solid notes like yours I often hunt down other notes from the taster. But in this case, it seems that this wine is the only Southern Rhone red from 2016 which you noted on CT.

Also, given the date of your note, this must have been a barrel sample, no? I think this was bottled in the summer of 2018...

10/17/2018 1:04:00 AM - No problem. This is a year ago at a Rhone en primeur or the like in London. I think it was either already bottled for the purposes of the tasting or a barrel sample transported in a bottle. To be honest I don’t remember much as was a big event :-)
