2013 Giuseppe Rinaldi Barolo Tre Tine

Community Tasting Note

Sunday, January 28, 2018 - Opened last night. Lighter ruby. Powerful, penetrating menthol aromas. Medium weight, light red fruit, acids which bore right through the mouth, grainy tannins, and tremendous finishing soil which persists on the palate. Not easy or charming right now, and very different in this respect from the Brunate. Old style, built for the long haul.

1/28/2018 6:35:00 PM - That must have been some night with those three barolos. I managed to scrounge up one bottle of each of those three (each Rinaldi + Bartolo) on my recent trip to Italy and hand-carried them back. Glad to hear they were all showing well, and I wish I could find more here at anything approaching a reasonable price. Where did you pick these up? Locally?

1/28/2018 7:51:00 PM - I am too old to be buying 2013 Barolo!! These were sourced by friends who are fond of opening young bottles and following them over a few days to get a sense of where they are headed. We are fortunate to frequently be beneficiaries of their strategic infanticide.
