Wednesday, May 21, 2008 - The shelf in my local supermarket had a lot of the 2006, and right at the back, one lonely bottle of the preceding vintage. I went for the curiosity, and what an interesting wine it is! A cliché, perhaps, but the essence of lychee and rosewater - so correct, it's uncanny. There's not enough midpalate weight for my taste, but it's delicate, poised and fragrant - copybook gewurz, which is no bad thing. No sign of age yet, despite being stored upright ona brightly-lit shelf for goodness knows how long. Dry, tangy, and excellent for the style - deserves its medal. [Sainsbury's, £6.99]
