Friday, March 30, 2018 - Last time I tasted this effort was about six years ago. It is still one of those wines that I just tend to love. The 2004 Quilceda Creek is clean and rich yet elegant - without the slightest doubt a true masterpiece. The nose is truly complex and reveals several layers with some time in the glass. To say the least, this is a very nicely integrated wine. Elegance, integration and balance are all hallmarks of this wonderful wine. There are absolutely no vegetative 'greenish' tones- this in particular is why the 2004 vintage deserves a score which comes very very close to perfection. The palate is cool, balanced and exhibits silky smooth tannins. This effort is starting to open up and behaves well without a two day decant. But I am certain it will last for many years to come if given proper care and attention in the cellar. A lovely wine! (score is 99+)
