Level approximately 3 cm below the cork. It may be the context or the awe-inspiring name on the label, but this really was in a different league than the eight bottles which preceded it. Beautifully complex and complete nose, forest floor, amazing complexity, has such effortless line and length, floral and refined, long and juicy, still has a touch of tannic grip, "ruht in sich", intellectual and elegant, subtle finish, very good length. Amazing quality for a 1981.
