78 Points

Saturday, January 20, 2018 - 14,5% alcohol, 5,6 g/l acidity. Tasted blind in VV.

Slightly translucent black cherry red color. Ripe and somewhat restrained nose with brooding aromas of juicy blackberries, some plummy dark fruits, a little bit of inky character and a hint of toasty oak. The wine is full-bodied, somewhat sweet-toned and a bit closed down on the palate with somewhat reticent flavors of sweet boysenberries, a little bit of minty herbal character, light blackberry jam tones, a hint of ripe dark plums and a touch of peppery oak spice. The wine is moderately high in acidity with slightly grippy medium tannins. The finish is somewhat short with quite underwhelming dark-fruited flavors of blackberries, sweeter boysenberries and a hint of succulent plummy fruit.

A quite balanced but somehow underwhelming, characterless and rather boring new world Shiraz. Not a particularly bad wine, just doesn't offer anything of real interest. Feels waste of money at 14,99€.
