94 Points

Wednesday, December 19, 2018 - Deep ruby red. 13.9% ABV. Opened in the morning and decanted two hours prior to dinner. Rather reluctant aromatics of plum, green tobacco, violets and vanilla bean progressively gain in intensity. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, loaded with bittersweet chocolate, mint, earth and minerals. Fine grained, tooth-coating tannins and red fruits are quite apparent on the very long finish. This is very tight and promising, and unlike many 2011 Napa Cabernets and Bordeaux blends, is clearly on the upswing. I would forget about this in the cellar for at least another 5 years. Good stuff! 94.
