Sunday, April 28, 2019 - Impressive. Has full on aromas of raspberries, plums, flowers, vanilla hints, strawberries, licorice and spice. Its medium bodied spherical, stylish red and blue fruits and cloves palate has a plush and opulent delineated freshly fruited silky middle. Ends longish, aromatic and zingy. 13.5%. The best Vina Ardanza I have ever tasted. Drink in the next 5/10 years. Needs 4-5 hrs aeration. Excellent QPR at around 20 pounds a bottle.

4/29/2019 3:58:00 AM - Hi macaujames, are we seeing a return to form with this vintage from LRA then?

After my own experience with the 2008, and reading other views on recent LRA releases (notably Harley1199 on the 890 2004), I've held off on major purchases with them until I can get a clearer picture of where they are going. With a few notable exceptions, I tend to only put traditionaly-styled Rioja in my cellar - it's just a style/taste preference, I have no objections to modernisation per se. I'm a little worried that they are going for more ripeness/heavier extraction which IMVHO doesn't suit the grapes, or the ageing regime they practice. And wouldn't be to my taste (it's clearly good for others).
