There was an indiscernable funk of something that was not dramatic, just a little something, at first we thought TCA but it was not in the nose, certainly not brett, almost like a bad barrel. Could this have been from the bad old days when Ridge had TCA in the cellar? So the wine had a nose that was closed, sort of blackberry brambles and a bit of evergreen. On the palate, that indiscernable component, a pretty good dose of tannin and acidity with blueberry, sous bois and a minerality of place. Just a weak bottle and let's hope #'s 3-6 are better.
