Friday, August 9, 2019 - US Trip - California; 8/6/2019-8/15/2019 (Los Angeles, San Francisco, Napa): To note that the 2016 vintage is not Pinot Noir, but rather a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Alicante Bouschet.
Very floral, powdery plume, of elderflowers and lemon flowers. The flower bloom also carried on to the palate, resulting in a wine that felt “jumpy and hoppy”. Oh yes, I think it might even be beer hops... hmm... So it seems the blending of Alicante Bouschet had probably brought about such a unique and interesting character to this wine. Pretty nice!
