93 Points

Friday, September 6, 2019 - A tense and nervy showing, even after 3 hours in the decanter. Linear and primary, but pure and fresh, the delivery on this youngster is lock-jawed at the moment. Red berry notes dominate, with cranberry, pomegranate, red cherry, purple plum, and some limestone flavors. Finishes with hints of promise, but it’s gonna be at least 5-7+ years before it likely starts showing its full hand.

Seeming sophistication and class lurk here, but mostly hidden behind a wall of grippy acid. Not biting at all, with no abrasive alcohol or palate-torquing imbalances. It’s just plain ‘ol young and primary. Best advice is to hold until after 2025 at minimum. Drink your Dalem or Capbern throwdowns if you must cook off a 2016. Let this GPL have a few winks in the cellar for now. 93++ points in its current state, with definite multiple point upside in the future.
