OK, open for a bit, decanted of course.
Massive well structured wine but it dances in the mouth - Sugar Ray Leonard - power and finesse (but less flash - sorry, Sugar). Awesome stuff. Huge fruit and huge tannins but so balances who cares? This will obviously go forever, but it drinks now, fo' sho.
Raisins and figs on the nose, almost like Amarone. Oak, too, but not so much that the fruit is lost. Also, the dried fruit nose does not equate to syrup on the palate.
Hard to believe it's 14.9 because it really sings. It's the Prince Fielder of wine - fat but quick, chunky but athletic.
Been open for many hours at this point. Listening to Mod Def Black Star. Still a big wine. Went through a slightly muted phase but is showing well again. Probably nothing more than youth.
Less dried fruit and more fresh. Still a big boy, but well balanced. Loads of fruit, great structure. I will collect this, Smith Madrone and Ridge. What else?
Look, it has been open for half a day and it's still evolving. Not as good as '03, but who cares? That's like saying 'he's rich but he's not as rich as Bill Gates.' Drink it!
