91 Points

Saturday, November 2, 2019 - Asperg Wine Syndrome Tasting Group: November 2019 edition: Glass: Zalto Universal
Popped and poured. After the 1983 Auslese had a bad cork, we opened this bottle. Clear, medium amber color. Clean, medium intense and fully developed. Black tea, earthy, smoke, speck, in the back some classic Ruwer notes. Not as expressive as I hoped.
Medium-sweet, medium+, almost racy and still well integrated acidity. On the palate smoky, speck, pumpernickel, bread crust, herbs, black tea. Harmonious and still with a nice balance. Medium+ length. Still a beautiful, complex wine, but also certainly past peak. No potential for this bottle. 91-92 benevolent Fanboy points.
