Friday, January 17, 2020 - Excellent QPR. Pleasantly surprised by the complexity and force of this merlot-based classic Napa-style Bordeaux blend.

Four hour decant. Deep, inky purple. Nose opens with dried herbs, sweet forest floor, a touch of oak, a hint of graphite and understated dark fruit notes that tease and intrigue. Suddenly on the palette, bright cherry and plumb burst onto the scene as the cab franc shines (25%)! Beautiful, balanced complement to the Merlot (55%%), cab sauv (17%), and Petit Verdot (3%)! Medium mouth-feel, full acidity (though not overboard for my taste), and supple tannins that coat the cheeks lightly, as coffee and cacao nibs lead to a satisfying medium-long finish.
