Tuesday, April 14, 2020 - Sourced from the Montebello Vineyard, this opaque ruby blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc is a structured offering that is built for the long haul. Loaded with black fruit, licorice, cedar, tobacco and dark chocolate, it adds notes of eucalyptus that are attributable to its élevage in American oak. Full-bodied, freshly acidic and with restrained alcohol (listed as 13.8%), it wraps its flavors with plentiful grippy tannins that will require a significant amount of cellar time in order to resolve. The lengthy finish, however, is a great indicator of where this wine is headed. Drink 2025-2040.
