Friday, April 17, 2020 - Earthy black cherry and forest floor notes on the nose. Medium bodied (13.5% ABV) with black cherry upfront, exhibiting a blend of high toned brightness and deeper, more savory notes. Mid-body shows very good density, but in a silky and balanced fashion. Tart black cherry and blackberry towards the back along with an integrated tannin-based structure. Minerals, spice notes and some dryness on the finish. Took nearly four hours to come together. When first opened, it showed as overly acidic, with a lot of the mid-body notes concealed. But with time, it integrated impressively. Shows the earthy/forest floor and dark fruit notes that make this site special. At peak, but should be able to hold this level for at least another 1-2 years. I wouldn't push it as given the time open, this drinks quite well at present with no additional benefit to extra cellar time.
