Saturday, April 18, 2020 - Decanted about 20-30 min before first glass. Fully opened up by 60 min. To the nose, dark fruit with some forest. On the palate, hot (14.5%) and lively. Blackberry, black cherry and boysenberry more than black raspberry, plum and sour/red cherry. White pepper more than black pepper, sage, cinnamon or clove for spices. A whisp of orange peel or mint near the finish? Tannins are in smooth strings providing good structure. Medium mouthfeel and medium length. Interestingly complex - not in layers but more of a mix. Paired well with grilled pork and baked sweet potato. Excellent QPR. Drinks very well right now - would not wait much longer.
