Saturday, April 25, 2020 - Quarantine; 3/12/2020-5/29/2020 (Chicago, IL): 119003, cork code V1861K. This is a lighter edition of the GC, and reminds me a bit of the 166eme, and maybe even the 164eme in its predominantly white fruit inflections and relatively higher acidity. It's not as broad-shouldered and scaled as the 167eme either. There is a gentle hint of brioche here along with some marzipan, tart citrus, and maybe even a smidgen of fresh herbs. On the palate, this has a somewhat pronounced acid profile in comparison to the reset of the elements. There's a bit of a white grape thing on the attack which is probably a function of this being so young and fresh, and my expectation is that that will recede with a few months. A good iteration (as all bottles of Krug are), but I'd put it behind the 167eme.
