Likes this wine:

Thursday, April 30, 2020 - FIRST, FLAWED BOTTLE:
Day 1: Mostly translucent dark cherry in center, moving somewhat toward garnet near the edges, almost transparent right at the glass. Mute nose of sour cherry. Seriously acidic with very tart cherry on the lean palate, sadly with intensity and length just in its acid. Some notes I’d read from tastings early on were positive despite the vintage, so a disappointment. (Notes indicate this is made from whole clusters.)
Day 2: More characterful nose with some ripe strawberry along with the cherry, both carrying through on the palate. While still quite acidic, there was a kind of plushness – especially compared to the prior day – and a bit of spice and minerality. Still not a wine to drink without food, and not special, but unlike day one a wine with some character. If any left, drink now.

SECOND BOTTLE, a completely different story:
Opened about 3 hours before pouring. Again essentially translucent dark cherry in center, moving somewhat toward garnet near the edges. Nose not powerful but promising with notes of cherry/strawberry and a hint of spice. Acidic on the palate, but apropos, not at all harsh. Ripe strawberry and cherry on the palate, with complexity, minerality, an almost ethereal plushness (instead of lean tart fruit) -- a sense that all its parts were balanced exactly as intended into the whole. Frankly delightful, perhaps appropriate to drink fairly soon in your most comfortable chair.
What a difference a bottle can make.
