91 Points

Saturday, October 25, 2008 - Brought to dinner at Langley's in Windsor, CA. While the restaurant most certainly underperformed, the wine did not. This is a very typical Insignia with excellent scents of creme de cassis, vanilla and a bit of ground coffee beans. Flavors are wonderfully smooth and well integrated with great fruit, depth and a lingering finish that has only a hint of tannins. For 2000, this wine is really quite exceptional. I would compare it to the 98 vintage. My only criticism, and this is not necessarily a bad thing, is that while other vintages of Insignia from a better growing season usually end up with the stuffing for putting a bit of age on them, this vintage is drinking very well now but probably will not last for more then another 5 years before it starts to peeter out on you.
