Monday, May 11, 2020 - Nose quite smoky
With minimal aeration it is smooth with straightforward red fruit flavor.
As it aerates, tannins really pith up. I don't know enough about the chemistry of wine to understand how this could possibly happen; I'm used to it doing the reverse.
But it is a medium bodied wine with not very complex plum flavor and delightful low acid for a red. It did not complement my steak but it went quite nicely with the chocolate cake at dessert, which had a cream cheese based dressing. This made me think this would be a fine wine to enjoy with cheeses.
