Wednesday, May 13, 2020 - Simply gorgeous. It's a dense, powerful wine with lush dark cherry on the nose and the palate. The nose has light rose and cedar notes. The cedar was more prominent before a 3 hr decant. The velvety core of fruit and tannin on the palate is bolstered by bright mint, well-placed acidity, dusty rock, and baking spice. Delicious now, but try to wait a while because this will only get better.

7/24/2020 7:58:00 AM - Really nice note. I opened a bottle last night and was surprised. This is such a classy wine, it does certainly have that velvety core of fruit and tannin. I was shocked at how well balanced this wine is!

7/24/2020 8:32:00 AM - Thank you! I appreciated your note as well. The comment on the "mountain coolness" of Montecillo is spot on and is even more perceptible in contrast to other wines from a vintage as hot as 2017.
