Saturday, August 1, 2020 - 2017 Fairchild Wines: I found this moderately more interesting than the GIII. Plums, blackcurrant, tobacco, menthol and iron show on the nose. Well concentrated for the vintage, this has fine grained but fairly pronounced tannins, lots of mineral driven flavors and nice blue fruit. It is a taut wine that needs a bit of time in the bottle. Finishes long and a bit austere.
