Sunday, August 23, 2020 - 1995 is not year enjoying a great reputation for Barolo but I found this very good indeed. Colour was darker with less bricking at the rim than with most Barolo of this age. The aromas were of rich rose petal with a touch of tar and liquorice and the medium+ bodied palate showed unusual roundness and suavity in its still present fruit together variations on the aromas announced by the nose and was well balanced by fresh acidity leading to finish kept firm by residual ripe tannins. When I tasted some 90s Sandrone Barolo when young, I found the sophisticated oak ageing somewhat obtrusive but after 25 years it has integrated perfectly. Very good.
