Saturday, September 19, 2020 - This wine was gifted by a friend as a tasting experiment as to how a wine would hold up under the worst storage possible. Standing on a windowsill for at least three years, the capsule of this bottle was discoloured by the sun.

We thought it would be totally DOA, but to our utter surprise this was in great shape. Rich dark fruit on the nose, a little more stewy than usual perhaps. Palate fared even better, smooth and fruity on the palate with acid and tannins all in check. Maybe a little jammy on the finish, but otherwise no sign that this wine had been mishandled. Testament either to the producer, the vintage, or the hardiness of wine itself - time for another glass!
