Saturday, December 6, 2008 - Blind California Cabernet Tasting: An earthy rustic, more old world wine which finished middle of the road in our Cali Cab tasting. There was more subtle fruit here with a traditional Bordeaux profile. Graphite, cigar box, cedar and tobacco were prevalent on the nose. Leathery and tasted like mahogany furniture with some dirt. Just for perspective, this was tasted blind after Corra 04 and Scarecrow 05. It was a rather significant departure from the Corra and the contrast was stark. The Scarecrow probably fell in between this and the Corra in terms of profile. Very interesting start to our tasting.
