Thursday, December 24, 2020 - YOUNG VINES: Similar to my bottle opened almost exactly one year ago. This time, however, I decanted for three hours, instead of one (won't do that anymore after hearing Chiara say they don't ever decant their wines, since they are decanted before bottling). It has a dark, ink-like reddish-purple color. Scents of cranberry, and some bright and a brambly wild essence. First taste at opening shows that super tangy-almost effervescent astringency. So I just left it alone. At the two hour mark, that tart acid began to even out, but it remains a raw, energetic wine. At three hours things fell into place and what remained was clean and harmonious. Some clove and baking spice came on with a long, drying finish. Singular wines.
