90 Points

Friday, February 12, 2021 - I have become snobbish about the “grandes marques” champagne houses over the years, preferring to avoid them on the basis that they are over-engineered and lacking in soul. This modest offering from Piper Heidseck reminded me what nonsense that can be. It appeared to have a bit of bottle age, with a light golden colour. The bubbles were small and intense, the wine tight and with good concentration. Lovely, and it has reminded me not to be a complete snob. My only request - put a disgorgement date on NV champagnes please....
