Friday, February 12, 2021 - CNY Day 1 at P&A's. Poured through Vinturi into decanter and then poured back into bottle to air 4 hours before dinner. Drank in Gabriel Standart.
Appearance is clear, depe intensity, purple colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of vanilla, light chocolate milk, fine wood shavings, redcurrant, fine spices, black licorice, tar, blackberries, black cherries. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, high alcohol (15% not felt), fine structured high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of black and white pepper spice, concentrated yet balanced blackberries and black cherries + redcurrant fruit, fine layer of vanilla oak wood as an afterthought, with more chocolate development with more air. Long finish.
Very good quality. Refinement and balance. Not commonly found in Barossa in my opinion. Kudos but just needs a little more specialness to get to the next level. Perhaps more age development will reveal more.
