Sunday, April 18, 2021 - Exploring 2018s and 2019s in Napa - Spring 2021; 4/18/2021-4/22/2021 (Napa Valley, CA): This was one of my favorite wines of the trip. Beautiful ruby color, with a huge bouquet of aromas. Red currant, red/black cherry, raspberry, black plum, blackberry, green bell pepper, menthol, vanilla. Violet floral character, crushed gravel, and lots of baking spices adds complexity to the already well integrated fine tannins, bright acidity, full body, and silky texture. Nicely structured with a Rutherford rustiness and subtle sweetness lingering on the extended finish.

4/23/2021 6:26:00 PM - I purchased this off the bottle list at Bouchon (great value!), so it didn’t get much decant time. With that being said, the flavors continued to blossom over the 3 hours we drank it.

I'm excited to purchase some 18's upon release. Very reasonably priced. If only i had bought more 16 DTC.

4/25/2021 1:22:00 PM - Last bottle I pulled was June last year and I scored it a 97. Only two more in the cellar so I'm going to reach out to Rob as I think this will be a fun one to follow over the long haul. Thanks again for the suggestion.

4/26/2021 8:59:00 AM - Thanks for the note! I've got some bottles left (really enjoyed the first 3 with varying levels of decanting and slow oxing). I'll have to check in on this wine. I think it says something that this was one of your favorites of the trip, considering all of the quality wines you tasted. Great tasting notes, very much appreciated.
