Thursday, August 5, 2021 - Decanted 90 minutes. Deep opaque purple-ruby. Mineral heavy and powerful nose. Iodine, pencil shavings, graphite, blueberries, blackberries, lilac, honeysuckle, and a hit of vanilla. Full bodied, spicy, and tannic. Tons of dark fruit – blackberries, blueberries, dark cherries, ripe plums hit at first. Followed by a burst of acidity and then all of the oak comes forward in the form of spice. Grippy and almost chewy heavy tannins. Very floral and herbal long finish with a decent amount of alcohol warmth.

This is a wine that knows what it wants to be - it wants to be dark and bold. I somehow get the feeling this wine needs to be lost in the cellar for at least another 5 years before breaking out again.

92pts now, but I suspect this will just get better with age.
