Wednesday, October 20, 2021 - Other than the hue, nothing in this wine suggests Pinot Noir.
However, I disagree with others that this necessarily makes this a poor wine.
The aromatics are lacking, not only in Pinot character but more generally in intensity and breadth. This wine revolves completely around tertiary aromas mostly suggestive of cedar, overripe fruit, spices and ashes.
Clearly, the wine is in its final stage but the texture is still quite nice.
Strangely, the palate is much more sugestive of Nebbiolo based wines than Pinot Noir with its acidity, somewhat rustic tannins and iron, spicy finish.
It actually worked well with duck breast...
Drink soon though.
