2015 Clos Apalta

Community Tasting Note

94 Points

Monday, November 1, 2021 - I have enjoyed the Clos Apalta across many vintages and the 2015 is a standout!

Opened and decanted for a little over an hour. Dark purple almost black in color with a nose that is intoxicating. Black fruits, leather, chocolate and spices.

The palate is amazing with a rich profile of blackberry, blueberry and a creamy chocolate on the midpalate. Very well balanced, soft and yet so full of worn leather with a mineral and spice finish. I see why this rated quite well.

Of course JS way over shot but he tends to do that a lot.

12/9/2021 5:56:00 AM - Thanks for your note, it makes me feel better about my dislike for JS reviews!

I tend to find it hard to take his reviews (or any pro's) to serious when he rates so many wines 98 points or higher. My palate and his are not aligned on many wines that is for sure. I think its more of a sales tactic but that's just MHO.

    Cheers!
