Thursday, November 25, 2021 - Thanksgiving Dinner (Los Gatos, California): Tasted next to Hugel Tokay Pinot Gris of the same year. A shade deeper than that wine-deep yellow but still astonishingly light for its age. Lower pitched stone fruit, and no botrytis here. Denser and drier than the Pinot Gris, but marred by a dirty element that suggests unclean barrels rather than terroir. Still enjoyable despite this and a wonder in terms of how well it has aged. No question that the late harvest Tokay was the far better wine tonight though.
