Sunday, January 23, 2022 - The 2009 Château d’Yquem is probably the closest thing to ambrosia in existence. On the nose, apricot, honey, spiced peaches, and a hint of “rubber hose” (reminded me of Riesling “petrol”).
The palate is absurdly complex for a young Sauternes. Orange marmalade, grilled pineapple, peach cobbler, even guava. Literally the perfect amount of acidity too.
