Tuesday, April 5, 2022 - A nose that perfectly reflects its 20 years of maturity - an equal balance between complex fruit and gentle forest floor elements. Very red fruited on the palate - no hint of anything dark at all. The vibrant thread of acid that runs the length of the palate is the more noticeable because the wine is only medium weight and the fruit has a delicate (but compelling) complexity. Some noticeable oak still. Sentiers in its identity as a Chambolle is tricky. - there is some robustness here - but in this incarnation not so very much. There is no sense of real power. It is in its essence a wine of delicacy. Fine but not better. There is freshness and interest but it lacks a little depth in its fruit and the acid is quite prominent. This is entirely ready and, though it will last, I do not recommend holding it much longer. Next day - perhaps a bit prettier / more Chambolle in character / less woodsy / oakier / showing its pedigree. A single bottle bought on release.
