Tuesday, August 23, 2022 - Yes, a bit closed on the open, but a little oxidation pays rich dividends with this delicious weekday quaff. Macerated maraschino cherry, black cherry kirsch, dry herbs and field flowers on the nose. Full bodied, with ripe flavors of cherry, black cherry, tobacco and vanilla/oak. Unmistakably Tuscan, but richer and more complex than a typical, more acidic (and tannic) chianti. Oak treatment brings this closer to a Maremma-styled blend without the Cab. Pizza was better than this deserved, but it paired nicely just the same.
