93 Points

Monday, November 17, 2014 - This wine was a bomb of funky delicious. The nose was indisputably Rocks with savory notes of meat brine, olives and smokey sweaty funk but with dense red fruit flavors that matched the funk step for step. In fact, this was less funky than both the 2010 Unnamed and the 2008 In the Rocks I had earlier in the year. The palate is signature Reynvaan - huge, silky with weightless but present tannins. This wine also seemed more dense than the other two, probably due to the heat in the vintage, with the alcohol showing slightly at a couple of different points (although this could have been due to a less than ideal food pairing). Either way, it is a more full throttle style. If this settles down only a little bit, it will be incredible. I'll be saving my other bottles for at least 2-3 more years - 93+.
