Saturday, May 7, 2011 - Wanted to pop one of my four to see how this is doing early on. Pop and poured, then followed over 4 to 5 hours. Nose is expressive with sour cherry, cranberry, some blackberry and the orange zest that is so intriguing about this wine. On the palate, this is well balanced with a nice lush texture. Expressive dark and sour red fruits, with supporting minerality. There is a bouyant acidity here that keeps the ripe fruit in check. Nice length on the finish. Youthful, but vibrant and showing well. This is on the riper side of the Pinots I enjoy, but it definitely hits the spot when I'm looking for the riper style. I will hold off on my remaining bottles as I think this will get better and better over the next several years.
