88 Points

Monday, November 14, 2011 - I agree with blaine below, still too young. Very primary at this stage. Took an hour and a half in the decanter to come alive and by that time most of it was gone! Should have opened earlier. Fairly rich for a pinot (but thin compared to some cali pinots!), dominated by black and red fruits with bits of that trademark orange peel that I love. Not crazy about this at this stage but enjoyable. As it is now 88 pts but with room to grow.

I thought a pinot would pair well with my homemade french onion soup but this was too bold a wine. Pair with richer food. I'm thinking steak topped with caramelized onions and mushrooms in a wine reduction (made w/ this pinot of course) and bits of Gorgonzola.
