Sunday, July 7, 2013 - Popped and poured from split. Color is a dark red, with slight lightening at the rim. On the nose, this has sweetish licorice, prunes, and raisins, all of which tapers down a bit with time. On the mouth, this is chunky and chewy, with a nice acid backbone. This finish carries some burn, with lingering licorice and cinnamon, all of which strip mines the mouth and leaves things puckered and taunt. Overall, this wine feels out of whack at the moment; it leaves one with a rumbus tumbus feel flowing from a stacked and packed beverage. This needs (and hopefully will improve with) time. 90 points (for now).
