Thursday, March 21, 2013 - Final Assemblage tasted at the winery. Level of complexity and refined elegance is what keeps me coming back for more. Earthy nose with currant, blackberry, bramble, herbs and damask rose petal. Tannins are young, of course, but refined. Long finish, silky mouthfeel and amazing balance. I think the cellar notes are unique to Montebello in California wines and are attributable to natural flora used to inoculate the fermentation.
