Saturday, March 4, 2017 - An interesting wine; cassis, gravel, a lick of mint, oak. Just a touch vegetal. Certainly the classic Californian phenotype pre-1998 or so. However, not quite the profundity you might expect from Hillside Select from a good vintage. A bit of a let-down; I'm not sure if there are better bottles out there or if this is just sliding down the slope. This particular bottle would have been better 5 years ago.
