Thursday, January 2, 2020 - This was fantastic from the first pour. Deep ruby still, looking young and fresh. Lovely nose of cassis, leather, touch of clove/honey. Ripe healthy fruit. Would be impossible to guess this as an 1988 if drunk blind as it was beautifully ripe and balanced. Medium bodied in a good way with lovely freshness but also plenty of crunchy fruit. Some tobacco and I felt it was quite a Pauilliac expression from Las Cases this year. Wonderful length and very uplifting and morish! Picked up at $125/bt at auction which was a screaming good buy for this drinking experience. Las Cases does take its time to come round and there is plenty of life left in well stored bottles. Fantastic!
