Sunday, June 7, 2020 - Like the ‘93 Les Mitans (see my previous tasting note), this bottle was tight and never really opened up - or maybe I just don’t get Montille. Tried a small glass upon opening and tried glasses over the next two hours - not much changed. There is definitely mineral and cleanliness to the wine, but it’s at the expense of anything that defines burgundy for me. Very little fruit or flowers or spices that drive some of the great crus. The wine feels like someone who simply won’t let you get to know them. Maybe this wine needs even more time to mature, but we could all be dead by then.
