Tuesday, July 14, 2015 - i might have gone to observation with the number but what a great showing from St. Julien and the best wine I have ever had from this Chateau. Deep red berry fruit with some scorched forest floor and mineral with a hint of the saddle leather and spice box. Wonderful thick mouthfeel and opaque deep garnet in the glass with bricked edges almost all the way through. Such a treat and so smooth. Great finish with silky tannin and integrated oak. I might have finished my last 2001 I wish I had a lot more. Again usually the wines from this chateau have failed to impress but this makes me a believer in great bottles, over vintages and wineries.
