Tuesday, July 12, 2011 - This wine (a blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc, 18% Syrah and 6% Merlot) was splash-decanted and serially tasted over the ensuing two hours. Deep ruby in color, the nose shows immediately expressive aromas of blackberries, vanilla and tree bark. Medium-to-full-bodied on the palate, with medium acidity, medium sweet tannins and well-integrated alcohol (listed as 14.5%). The flavors are black fruit and mineral dominated, but there is a slight green element. The middle palate is solid and leads to a medium-length finish which is a bit tart. While my wife and I consumed this wine at home, it would otherwise be perfect to sip on a weeknight as you watch the sun set into the Pacific. Nice for the price, but not a "weekend wine". Drink now-12/15.
