Saturday, August 6, 2011 - Popped and poured. First sniff shows all the maritime and stony goodness one wants in a high end Chablis at 11 years in, no pre-mox, lets party! Served in Reidel Burg stems, the nose echoed the comments above, the palate had an abundance of briny, yet rich shellfish, age had brought on floral attributes, still pretty spry, with a good underlying cut of acidity. But it was simply the very fine grained texture of the wine that was the real highlight, at once an intense expression of chardonnay, yet so magically light on its feet, precise, a joy to put this in your mouth. If not at peak, it’s really damn close, I’ll try to finish my last bottle within the next two years (oh this was from PC).
