Sunday, October 2, 2022 - Their first vintage. Vineyard planted in 1985, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 2 years in new Nevers oak. 13% abv. Very dark garnet, with some slight clearing at the rim. At first, this is all black plums and clovey oak - it was a bit cool to start. With some time it starts to move - cream and licorice, waxy pink flowers, green olives. The texture is suave and open, acid is balanced. After three hours of being open, there’s a high toned minty/ashy/chocolate accord that is really pretty. I think that this would fool a lot of people blind - the ripeness and lack of hard edges plus the mint-chocolate note would push you Australian in a hurry.
